Art That Moves.
Born in Rome in 1940, Sergio Saviantoni is one of the defining voices of the Italian art scene. Trained at the Accademia delle Belle Arti under Sandro Troffi and renowned graphic designers, he developed a distinctive visual language: vibrant, expressive, and profound. His works capture the modern individual’s search for connection and identity. Since the 1970s, Saviantoni has been a prominent figure in the Roman art community, earning numerous awards. Today, he lives and works in Ciampino near Rome.

Biography

Sergio Saviantoni is an Italian artist who was born in Rome in 1940. He received formal training in painting at the Accademia delle Belle Arti of Rome, where he studied under Sandro Troffi. Saviantoni also pursued studies in advertising graphic design, learning from instructors such as Brini, Amidel, and Bonavita.

Saviantoni established himself in the Roman art scene in the 1970s, participating in numerous group exhibitions and receiving recognition for his work. He held his first solo exhibition at Galleria Tiziano in Rome in 1971 and continued to exhibit his paintings throughout the decade and into the 1980s in cities like Rome, Florence, and Piombino. He was awarded several prizes, including first prize at the Rassegna Autunnale Arti figurative in 1970 and the Mostra Nazionale Palazzo Esposizioni in 1971. He also participated in the 1ª Biennale d'Arte Figurativa in Ciampino in 1972 and the Mostra Nazionale Arti Figurative in Rome in 1973, among others.

Saviantoni's paintings often depict crowds and individuals navigating the complexities of modern life. His style has been described as capturing a sense of alienation and the struggle for connection in contemporary society. Critics such as Andrea Calderazzo and Fabrizio Schneider have praised his expressive use of colour and his ability to create a unique and personalised world within his paintings.

Throughout his career, Saviantoni has been an active member of the Roman art community, belonging to organisations such as the Accademia Tiberina, the Accademia Artisti Oggi, and the Associazione Cento Pittori di Via Margutta. He continues to live and work in Ciampino, near Rome. His work has been featured in numerous publications, including "Comanducci," "Il Quadrato," "Art Market," and various art journals and newspapers.
